D Biosphere® III
D Biosphere® III
Celebrate Earth Day with the D Biosphere® III, the latest chapter in Martin's commitment to sustainability and environmental awareness. Crafted entirely from FSC®-certified woods, this guitar is more than an instrument—it's a call to action. At its heart is a captivating work of art by Robert Goetzl, depicting a tender moment between a polar bear mother and her cub, set against a backdrop of icy blues and a warm, glowing sky. It’s a scene of beauty and fragility, echoing the uncertain future these majestic animals face. This model is a tribute to Polar Bears International®, a nonprofit dedicated to the conservation of polar bears and the Arctic sea ice they depend on. C. F. Martin & Co.® has made a generous donation to support its vital work, helping to address both short- and long-term threats to these incredible animals and ensure they continue to roam the sea ice for generations to come. Featuring a Dreadnought body made of solid sapele back and sides and a solid Sitka spruce top, the D Biosphere III produces a rich, resonant tone that mirrors the voice of our planet—bold, clear, and deeply moving. Thoughtful touches like European flamed maple binding and sapele fingerboard inlay make it as beautiful to play as it is to behold. Every strum of this guitar reminds us of the deep connection of all life and the importance of preserving it for generations to come. Join Martin in raising awareness and protecting our planet, because nature’s song deserves a stage.

Preferred by Nature
Martin Guitar has officially achieved Preferred by Nature Sustainability Framework certification for the D Biosphere® III guitar. In 2023, the company became the first in the U.S.—and only the second worldwide—to earn this certification with the OM Biosphere, a model created to highlight Martin’s commitment to preserving and replenishing coral reefs, some of the most diverse and valuable ecosystems on Earth. The D Biosphere III is FSC® certified (license code FSC-C008304) and remains the only plastic-free guitar in production today. Even the gig bag is sustainable, made from hemp. With this new certification, the D Biosphere III will proudly feature the Preferred by Nature Hummingbird Seal—a distinction not easily earned, and one Martin is proud to display.
Sustainability Framework Verified Wood Certificate Code PBNC-039001

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®), founded in 1993, is an international, nongovernmental organization established to create global standards for responsible forest management, with the goal of protecting forests for future generations. C. F. Martin & Co.® first received FSC certification in 1997 and now holds multi-site FSC certification covering both its Nazareth, Pennsylvania, and Navojoa, Sonora, Mexico, production facilities. Over the years, Martin has steadily increased its use of FSC-certified tonewoods and has introduced several FSC-certified models, including the 00L Earth, OM Biosphere, DSS Biosphere II, and the all-new D Biosphere III. For wood suppliers and manufacturers like Martin Guitar, FSC certification demonstrates a commitment to responsible forest management, the protection of endangered species, and cultural and economic fairness for Indigenous peoples.
